Around 1:30 PM on June 9th a major fire erupted, leaving many locals in the Tinsukia District of Assam terrorized. Gas has been spreading for the past fourteen days and is currently on fire. Weeks of negligence and now this incident made locals homeless.
Actually, the base of this incident happened On May 27th, One of the Oil rings at Oil-well No: 5 of the Baghjan oil fields suffered a blow Out According to the reports of India Today. From then on, many experts and engineers are controlling the situation, but no use of the blast has occurred.
The Government of Assam has taken necessary actions to ensure safety to the people. NDRF, Police, and Parliamentary forces are into the action to bring the situation under control. Indian Air Force also rushed to Stop the fire breakout as CM made a request to Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh.
Around 5 PM several houses and other properties got burned as the fire spread started from the Oil field. This fire spread around 2 KM and 1600 families with 3000+ people got evacuated. The sad part is we are making many disasters to the other species.
Yes, this oil well is a few kilometers away from the Dibru-Saikhowa National park. Variety species of birds have died, and it caused death to a lot of aquatic life like fishes and Gangetic river dolphins.
Locals have started protests and questioning the negligence of the oil fields as they lost their houses and properties. Thousands of families’ lives are on roads now. Experts who came from Singapore to solve this issue has said that it will take four more weeks to recover.
If the officials have reacted on time, this issue can be prevented. Pray for Assam and spread awareness.
