Credit Cards Crimes : As we informed about the series of articles about Cybercrimes earlier in my previous article i.e., Cyber Crimes, our first topic related to these crimes will be Debit/Credit card frauds& Pornography.
Debit/Credit card frauds
Debit/Credit card is the first thing we think about after we listen to something about the Cybercrimes. Debit and Credit cards have been the simplest form for transactions for many years. We use debit and credit cards almost everywhere and for every transaction. It has been a part of our daily life. But coming to the security, these cards perform less than the expectation, we can also say, they offer no advanced security for us.
Going into some statistics, over 129 crores have been lost from October to December 2019, only in India. Over 21,041 cases have been registered in that period. And reports say that 85 crores from 129 crores have been lost only in October. These cases are mostly related to ATM and debit card transactions. People still get fraud calls, and we fall for it. Online shopping has also faced many issues with online payments.
Protect Yourself From CyberAttack
- To avoid these frauds, do not tell your CVV to anyone, not even to bankers on call.
- Avoid opening all the links you get to your phones if you use mobile banking.
- Keep changing the PIN for every 6 months. Avoid online payments if you can pay cash.
Though we get many e-wallets for cardless transactions, the security they provide not yet trustable and they are not responsible for any fraudulent transactions. Remember, though we complain against these frauds, it will take months or years in some cases to trace them, as the accused will target the public mostly from other states.
Pornography
Here comes Pornography, it is also a part of Cybercrimes. Basically, pornography is selling some nudity to sex addicts. These fraudsters take all advantages of growing internet usage in our country. In some cases, these criminals put some cameras in private places too. These criminals majorly target the children in social media as user awareness is very less in India. In some cases, social bullying also leads to pornography.
