Inhumanity level Zero of a mother and daughter. This case was witnessed in Shadnagar, Hyderabad where a girl named Sravanthi tried to convince her parents to marry a boy who belonged to a different caste. Sravanthi fell in love with the boy who belonged to the same locality and when her parents got to know about their relationship she tried to convince their parents but things became graver when the argument grew wild between their family.
Out of anger, Sravanthi’s father handed over a bottle of kerosene to her and asked her to forget her boyfriend or either die by herself. Later the mother (Chandrakala) snatched the kerosene from her husband and spilled it over Sravanthi and set her on fire.
At the same time, the mother also caught fire and suffered severe burns. Both the mother and daughter were admitted to the hospital but couldn’t survive as they had 80% wounds all over their body. The police said both of them died undergoing the treatment and a case has been registered.
Parents here are ready to lose their daughter instead of convincing her in a better way or either agreeing to her demands. The daughter approaching her parents was a daring move as she stood strong over her decision.
But the instinctive decision of the father bringing in the idea of asking her daughter to either sacrifice her life or end the relationship with her boyfriend made things worse. This situation which can be settled in a better way has ended up taking two lives.
This trail of events where parents not agreeing to inter-caste marriages of their children has led to worse situations where either the children sacrifice their lives or the parents who take it away.
We have discussed the same issue in the previous article and yet again they keep happening again and again over spreading awareness too. Another time caste system you win and we as humans lose. This time it’s mother and daughter.
