Penguin Movie Review: A Story about the battle of Mother to save her Child

After the Blockbuster success of Mahanati, Keerthy Suresh has selected the scripts wisely. She is signing prominent kinds of roles for a film and mostly for female-centric films. After a Long gap, now Keerthi Suresh is coming up with a film titled “Penguin“.

Penguin Main Plot

Penguin is a mystery thriller film that revolves around a bold and adventurous step taken by a pregnant woman to save her first son’s life who got kidnapped by a Psychopath for six years.

Penguin Story

The movie starts with a Shocking scene where the dog is barking on a person who wore a Charlie Chaplin mask holding an axe in his hand and killing a child. From the first scene onwards, the screenplay is very engaging and after few minutes of the story leads to the main track, Rhythm (Keerthy Suresh) and her husband Raghu(Lingaa) with their child goes to a funeral of his friend’s father died. Their child goes missing for the first time and fortunately, they will find him.

Later on, the kid gets kidnapped by a person while playing with his friends. There is no clue about him whether he is alive or not. Raghu shouts on rhythm for her carelessness to their child and got separated after a year.

Rhythm gets married again with Gautham (Rangaraj). She always thinks about her first son and searches about clues to find out him. Few years later, while she is pregnant she finds out her son in a forest after he escapes from a Psychopath.

How she came to know about him? Why kidnapper hide her son for many years? What are the signatures left by psychopaths for every child kidnap? What strange things she experiences while finding the Psychopath is the rest of the movie all about.

Artists performance

Keerthy Suresh has acted brilliantly and truly one-woman show film. She is the apt choice for this pregnant woman role.  Remaining all actors are mostly newcomers who did good justice to their roles. Most importantly, A person who is holding an umbrella wearing a Charlie Chaplin mask will haunt you for a while.

Analysis

Here, the director has raised an interesting point in the film that relates to our normal lives. Comparing with others may lead to Violence some times they will get disturbed and become psychopaths. Visuals shown by Pilani of the Nilgiris region are a delight to watch. Few scenes are brilliantly executed and up to the end movie is truly engaging and pre-climax of the scenes will feel low after revealing the psychopath which we can’t feel the desired impact.

The title Penguin of the film is because the plot where she narrates a story to her son about how a penguin goes to the extreme situation to save the life of its child.
