ROG Phone 3 With Snapdragon 865+,and 6000MAh Battery and 144Hz Display

ASUS ROG 3

We have a series of phone releases this week first was OnePlus Nord and Lenovo legion and followed by the Asus Rog 3 and they released it globally, including India with a virtual launch event. Rog 3 phones carry on its legacies from the predecessor’s and insane value for money.

This is also the first Snapdragon 865+ phone to launch in India, including a 144 Hz display,64 MP triple camera and a huge 6000mAh battery as well.

ROG Phone 3: Specifications

ROG 3 phone has the same design from the predecessor with tiny bezels, both at the bottom and top on the front, for better gaming experience and also they also room for the dual front firing speaker’s .

It also has a camera and sports a RGB-lit logo, and gorilla glass 3 protection on the rear and the fingerprint is present on the Front display.

144Hz Display with Amoled screen

On the front, Asus ROG Phone 3 has a large 6.59-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 144HZ/1ms refresh rate and a 270Hz touch response rate. This is a step up from the 120Hz refresh rate/240Hz touch response rate of the ASUS ROG Phone 2. The panel also boasts a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 113% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, Delta-E < 1, 10-bit HDR10+ certification, and up to 1000 nits of peak brightness.

Snapdragon 865+

Under the hood, Asus ROG Phone 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ chipset that is recently announced by Qualcomm. This is also one of the first phones to be backed by this slightly over clocked flagship chipset. You will also find up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage onboard.

We can’t go without talking about the thermals of this gaming phone. ROG Phone 3 arrives with the 3rd-gen GameCool system in tow. It sports a 6x larger heat sink, redesigned Copper 3D vapor chamber, and a larger graphite film, as per the official press release. Asus states that its thermal system will help keep the temperature in check, offering a stable gaming experience.

Air Triggers 3

The Taiwanese giant builds on existing ultrasonic shoulder buttons with new motion tracking gestures. ROG Phone 2 added tap and slide gestures in addition to the usual functionality of the Air Triggers which was crazy awsome back in the day . You can, however, do a lot more with the ROG Phone 3 since it now also supports “swiping” and “dual partition” functions and more.

The swiping function, as the name states, lets you swipe right or left on each Air Trigger to perform 2 additional actions which can be used in the games. This means you now have five touch inputs via the Air Triggers. If that’s enough for you, you can divide the length of the Air Trigger into two (virtually) and get four buttons at the top while playing in landscape mode.

Also, Asus continues to offer additional ports on the edge of the ROG Phone 3. It includes a side-mounted USB Type-C port, as usual, to connect accessories and the charging cable when you use the phone in landscape mode for gaming on the phone.

64MP Triple Camera

The already likable dual-camera setup aboard the ROG Phone 2 gets an upgrade in line. You now have a triple camera array on the ROG Phone 3, which is helmed by a 64MP (f/1.8) Sony IMX686 sensor. There’s a 13MP (f/2.5) ultra-wide camera with a 125-degree FOV and a 5MP macro camera onboard as well. It also supports up to 8K video, 4K slow-motion video recording, and a Pro mode.

We expect the cameras aboard the ROG Phone 3 to be decent even though it’s a more gaming-focused phone. Let’s also not forget the 24 MP selfie camera baked in the top-notch.

6,000mAh Battery

Another key highlight of ROG Phone 3, well, is the massive 6,000mAh battery. It was the major attraction for its predecessor and was loved by users, thus, it is here to stay. The phone also supports 30W fast-charging, which Asus tells that it can juice up 75 percent (around 4,510mAh) battery in just 46 minutes.

This sounds great for hardcore gamers, who can plug in their phones and quickly have some charge to continue practicing. The one thing that games want is the 3.5mm audio jack is, however, missing in action. Asus is bundling the AeroActive Cooler 3 with ROG Phone 3 to not only bring back the 3.5mm jack but also further lower the temperature by 4-degree Celcius.

Price and Availability

ROG Phone 3 will be available in two variants – 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB. Asus has priced the ROG Phone 3 starting at Rs. 49,999 (~$670) for the base variant, while the higher-end 12GB+256GB variant is Rs. 57,999 (~$777) in India.
