Yoga, whenever we hear this word, something great, soothing comes to our mind. It’s a practice, something which people preach, something that comes with dedication. Derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’, it means to connect with the universe around and integrate with them.

International Yoga day is celebrated on June 21st every year. We celebrate the spiritual power that yoga brought with itself. It originated from 5000 years ago. It is a method of relaxation and way of exercising and a healthy lifestyle. This resolution to make yoga day came as a resolution by India’s Ambassador, Asoke Kumar Mukerji in the UN.

There’s no set tradition of what to do on the yoga day. It’s an ancient practice and people worldwide especially do it on the yoga day and most other days as an adoption to a healthy lifestyle. From the Upanishads comes the idea of yoga to transform human consciousness through control of body and senses through constant practice. The body is a vehicle for the realisation of Supreme being, was said by PM Modi.

It is not just an exercise, but a way of discovering yourself with the help to revive our inner consciousness so that we get more connected with the world and nature. It is helpful for eradicating stress and pessimistic energies. There are a lot of benefits in doing yoga.

  • Healthy body
  • Concentration power increases
  • Makes us achieve serenity
  • Helps with inflammation diseases
  • Improves our balance
  • Posture becomes stable
  • Muscle strength
  • Better and healthy breathing
  • Solution to lot of health problems
  • Immunity increases and stimulates organs
  • Quality of life gets better Instils new energy and confidence, a sense of Positivity
  • Anxiety reduction

There are innumerable advantages of doing yoga. It is not something that we learn within a day, but comes with practice. It has asanas for beginners to the pros. The beginners should do easy asanas and then tough ones for the experienced ones.

A word of advice, never be very much overwhelming while doing it. Everyone should do at their own speed and pace. There are a couple of restrictions to people with existing disorders. We should consult a yoga expert in that case.

In a nutshell, yoga makes us move a step forward towards a healthy consciousness and a positive life.
