Zoom is Getting New Update With AES 256-bit Encryption

zoom 5.0

Zoom video conferencing application now crosses 300 million daily users, despite ongoing security issues, company on Wednesday. Because of Covid-19 pandemic, almost suddenly the entire world went into lock-down. By this Zoom application got attention from tech firms, schools and universities to continue their work from home.

The company mentioned that it went from serving around 11 million users to over 200 million users in just few months. Zoom CEO Eric S. Yuan said regarding these number in a webinar and also revealed some details about Zoom 5.0 and what’s new in the update.
Zoom 5.0 will start rolling out this week, but some features coming to service have already started rolling out. Here are the all new privacy and security enhancements you can expect from it.

Control Over Data Routing

Zoom account meeting hosts and admins can be able to choose which data center regions their meeting and webinars use for real time traffic. This could be helpful for organizations who don’t want their meeting traffic to be routed through unwanted countries and regions.

Stronger Encryption Than Before

Zoom already started encrypting in-webinar and in-meeting presentation content on its platform. Now it is supporting that encryption by upgrading to the AES 256-bit GCM standard. In simple terms, new cryptographic mode will further ensure that the content you share on Zoom cannot intercepted by an outside audience. The new encryption protocol will secure Zoom webinars, meetings and dial in calls once it gets updated.

The service is adding a new security icon in streams which will give easy access the host to control most used security features like ability to turn off screen sharing or chat and also started enabling waiting rooms by default for users with Zooms single pro, basic, and education licenses. The company scheduled the new update to roll out system-wide on May 30. You can update the application within the app or by heading over to this link.
