A survey conducted by Oxfam India says, 80% of Government school students have no classes from the lockdown amid the Corona Virus pandemic. Oxfam India conducted this survey in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh with some Government and Private schools. In the survey, the results stated that most of the government school teachers are not at all trained to teach students online.
No Government student got the education in Bihar. Only 20% of the students got the textbooks. Experts say that this issue is due to the lack of training for the government school teachers for online teaching practice.
In Odisha on parents being asked about the problems they are facing for their children’s online classes said that they face frequent internet connectivity issues, data is too expensive for them to afford, 23% of them don’t have the smart devices, 19% of them are not able to deal with the software, and 18% of them do not have the internet access at all.
Coming to the private school student’s problem, once again it is all about the business in the pandemic too. The survey says that 41% of students couldn’t access online classes, 39% of parents paid hiked fee for no reason, in Odisha, 50% of parents paid for uniform too. The governments pushing private schools to reopen and taking no action on government school student’s education is insane.
