Mozilla introduced New Firefox add-on to generate temporary email ids: Private Relay

Mozilla has introduced a new privacy enhancement service called Private Relay that generates unique email address to help users sign in to various services and websites without exposing their actual email address. This is available as addon for Firefox browser, and service will help users avoid tracking by advertisers and spam by relaying all incoming emails to the users actual email id to ensure that they don’t miss out any important mail.

This service has entered testing last month and currently in ‘experimental, invite-only alpha’ stage. Mozilla on its official add-on repository said that its new tool will be a one-click solution for users wishing to end online tracking by distinct services and apps.

According to the organisation, “Private Relay adds UI to generate unique, random, anonymous email addresses that forward to your actual address. You can use your relay addresses to sign up for apps, sites, or newsletters. When you’re done with that service, you can disable or destroy the email address so you’ll receive no more emails from it. And, if the service has an incident, their data won’t link back to you”.

Private Relay seems to function similarly to ‘Sign-in with Apple’, which offers users a similar option of hiding their email address while signing-in to different online services and apps. However, Mozilla is not offering a new sign-in service, but only offers temporary email address that can be used while signing into various sites. You can download it here.
