COVID-19 third wave and its preventive measures: All you need to know

Covid 19 Third wave

As per the latest reports, many countries Germany, Canada, France, Italy, etc have been hit by the covid third wave of novel Coronavirus in 2021. According to Niti Aayog member, Mr VK Saraswat and the top epidemiologists of India, the third wave is expected to begin in September – October 2021.

Many parts of the country were severely hit by the second wave in the months of April and May. Although, with the decreasing number of cases, and massive campaigns for Covid-19 vaccination in almost every nook and corner of India, the government controlled the grave situation caused by the deadly wave.

The Third Wave (a matter of concern):

This dip because of the second wave has given a clear indication of a potential third wave and major scientists and notable government authorities have showed for the intensity of this wave to be dangerous for children, unlike the previous ones. This wave is said to pose a threat to the lives of 165 million children who are below 12 years of age.

The current updates on the new variant of coronavirus, the Delta, a triple mutant, has been found in India. This mutant, also known as B.1.617.2 is also being called the ‘Indian variant’, leading to debates and controversies.

How to deal with the third wave?

Vaccination is topping the priority list of the government and the healthcare department of the nation, mainly focusing on the children. Recently, India has made a groundbreaking record of vaccinating 86 lakh Indians in a single day, on June 21, taking the total to 28.87 crore administered vaccine doses.

The real challenge in the vaccination drive is lack of awareness among the children from backward areas of the country.

Next in the list comes detecting the weaknesses of the healthcare system of the country. The single issue of shortage of medical oxygen became the deadliest weakness of the department in the second wave.

Thus, it is much required for the system to be prepared beforehand for the outbreak of the upcoming wave.

Lack of awareness about the measures to prevent spread of the virus can still be observed in many rural areas of the country.

Masks, hand sanitizers and medicines should be made easily available to everyone at cheaper prices. The readers should keep in mind to wear their mask and keep themselves and their surroundings sanitizers.

The strengthening of the immune systems of the citizens, especially children, can prevent the severity of the virus. Various campaigns and drives for spreading awareness and distributing medicines should be organised and participation rate of the citizens should be highly encouraged.

The rules and guidelines need to be firmer this time for everyone and the citizens should also abide by the same. The mobilisation of citizens during the lockdown (if any) and the hotspot zones should be strictly monitored to stop the comment spread.

With the acknowledgement of the brave corona warriors, let us hope better health for every citizen in the world and send out good wishes to the countries battling the third wave.
