The newly built AI system of Google can form a floor plan of a chipset in just six hours, which takes months for a human engineer. Google has claimed that this new software system is being used to design the next generation of its tensor processing units.

According to a research paper published recently by the tech giant regarding the unique chip designing software system, the company will use AI software system to design chipsets which might be further used in developing more advanced AI softwares.

“In under six hours, our method auto-generates chip floor plans,” Google said. Chip floor plan refers to the design of the physical layout of a particular computer chip. It requires months of hard efforts by the design engineers to create a manufacturable layout for the chip.

Talking about the new AI based software system of Google, it will design the floor plan of the chip in six hours. The developers have planted over 10,000 chip floor plan to help the AI based software system to choose an efficient and optimal floor plan for the chipset that will improve the performance by consuming less power.

The developers have built a neural network which can learn representations of a chip. This method used experience to become better and faster at solving new instances of the problem which let the artificial agents designing the chip to gain more and more experience than any human designer.
