Indian Govt. launched National Artificial Intelligence Portal and Skilling Program for schools and industries

National Artificial Intelligence : Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched a dedicated AI portal for India.

The INDIAai portal has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Private IT industry. “INDIAai is the central hub for everything AI in India and beyond. A joint initiative of MeitY, NeGD and NASSCOM, the website aims to be the trusted content powerhouse in the backdrop of India’s journey to global prominence in Artificial Intelligence,” said in the website.

Along with INDIAai, Minister also announced a national program called “Responsible AI for Youth”. This program aims to empower students with suitable AI related tools, and skill sets.

This portal will serve as a platform for sharing AI related sources such as startups, articles, investment funds in AI, companies, resources and educational institutes related to AI in the country.

According to the government, the program is open to students of class 8 to class 12 from central and state-run schools. In the first stage of the program, each state education department will nominate 10 teachers, who will be responsible to identify 30-50 students for the program.

Soon after the selection process, eligible students will be subjected to attend the online training sessions on AI and will be assisted to submit a 1 minute long video explaining their potential AI project.

The government shortlists 100 best project ideas from the submitted videos. They will invite shortlisted students to attend residential boot camp or online sessions. The top 50 project ideas will be further shortlisted for presentation and the top 20 from them will then be featured at relevant platforms.

“Responsible AI for Youth” program made possible in collaboration with Intel India, National e-Governance Division, Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), and Ministry of Human Resource Development.

National Artificial Intelligence will be helpful for the youth of india to learn new skills and implement them.
