Kondpochamma Sagar – The Dark Reality of the Reservoir

Kondapochamma Sagar

Kondapochamma sagar and the dark reality of the reservoir.

The new weekend getaway for Hyderabad people has become a Gem in very little time. Almost every person from Hyderabad has visited the place to see the beauty of the reservoir and referred it to others to have a visit.

Of course, the intention to build the reservoir was convincing but have you ever thought about how the reservoir was built? From whom did the government acquired the land to build the reservoir? How the landowners are being compensated? And how the oustees are being treated? NO!

Sai Aditya, a common person like every one of us has revealed some bitter truths about the dark side of the Kondapochamma Sagar Reservoir through his Instagram profile.

CrunchStories, by seeing those videos have gathered some information and thought it should reach you as well. Let us get into the topic! And know what had actually happened during the land acquisition for the reservoir.

Telangana High Court on April 23rd stated that “whose houses would be submerged due to construction of Kondapochamma Reservoir in Siddipet – should be evacuated by May 1st”, The High Court of Telangana also stated that every person who is losing his/her house or the land should be compensated according to Rehabilitation and Resettlement act.

In the meantime, the people from the villages Mamidyala, Bahilampur, and Tanderpally which will be acquired by the government to build the reservoir have to be shifted to rehabilitation colonies till they get their permanent houses as the settlement. And the agricultural landowners should be compensated with minimum support money.

This is what the High Court has ordered the officials. Later, the villagers have asked them to compensate them with the permanent houses before they evacuate from the village and went to the High Court of Telangana.

The High Court after reviewing the whole problem passed a stay order for seven more days and to solve the issue. Locals say that, though they got the stay order from the High Court for seven more days, the officials have sent a huge police force to clear the village.

The villagers have been forcefully dragged out of their houses in presence of the Collector. This all happened at midnight on 30th April in the lockdown period. The villagers were shifted to some temporary rooms forcefully. Villagers also state that the collector (Government employee) acts like a politician when they ask about their houses.

And they state that he also said that he will make sure that these people will not get any compensation until he is in power as the villagers have made him go to the High Court on this issue.

An IAS officer who has to serve people and talk on behalf of people to the government is talking on behalf of the government and acting like a politician against people.

The most shocking fact is that this issue and these villages come under the Chief Minister’s constituency. And no NEWS channel wants to cover the important issue as they all have turned into Entertainment channels these days.

People from these villages failed to record all the issues as the officials have pulled their mobile phones in fear that they’ll record the issue. People who had everything a few months ago don’t have anything today.

No proper shelter, No proper food, No proper roads for their temporary colonies, No proper electricity, and No proper water for the villagers who have sacrificed their houses for the construction of the Kondapochamma Reservoir.

A farmer who has about 10 acres of agricultural land was left out with nothing today. Projecting like a farmer’s government and acting this way with the farmers on the other side is too cruel.

No Co-Ordination between officials:

Many people who have been shifted from those villages to an area called Mulugu, which is around 11-kilo meters long from the reservoir have no update about their compensation till now. Some families who got four sons got four houses and some people who are aged didn’t get any support till now.

Some people don’t even have their names on the list of governments for compensation. And many women have been left out with nothing even though they have sacrificed their houses and many other properties for the reservoir.

In some cases, though their name is registered clearly in the compensation list, they don’t have any update on when they are getting their permanent houses. People who have families are also listed as single persons and not allotted their compensation. This is happening for the past six months.

After seeing all the villagers suffer, Government still says that they cannot compensate anything till they hear the final verdict from the High Court. And here as the law is in favor of the government, the villagers now cannot file any case against the government too.

So the villagers have to suffer with no proper facilities and with no proper work until they get the final verdict from the High Court.

And the issue doesn’t end up here, some widows and aged women who don’t have a man support in the family are not at all listed for the compensation and their share is being sold out to others by officials by talking some bribes.

So the widows and the aged women will have to suffer in the temporary houses with work and with no food till they die.

Trust me the truth behind the scenic beauty is too cruel and the villagers to date didn’t get any support from any official. Being a citizen, this is, of course, our duty to help the villagers out there who don’t know where to go and whom to ask for help right now.

Let us make this issue reach to higher officials so that they’ll help out the villagers and give some time to check their problems before giving time for opening ceremonies of cable bridges or so. Let us warn the officials that youth in this country still have the courage to question the government if something’s happening wrong.

Let us remind the government that we are not under any dictatorship to see them doing what they want.

Trust me, if at least 10% of the visitors of the Kondapochamma Reservoir is concerned about the villages which were drowned to build it, the problem will be solved.

Every new issue covers up yesterday’s problem but lets us not forget about these victims until they get compensated for being the backbone for the Kondapochamma reservoir.

Let us give 10% of our attention to this issue over the drugs case of Bollywood. Trust me you cannot change anything in the NCB’s interrogation but you can definitely make a change with your presence in this fight.

Also, let us thank Sai Aditya for letting us every one know about what had happened behind the Kondapochamma reservoir. It’s time to get back the news channels from entertainment channels.
