Lac Face-off Tensions on the Indo-China border have spiked to the highest since after 1962, after over twenty Indian Soldiers, including a Colonel, were killed and several other severely injured in the violent face-off with Chinese troops in Galwan valley region of eastern Ladakh on Monday, during a massive escalation of the continuing military dispute in the high altitude region since early May luckily, no bullets were fired. The Indian casualties could rise further because several soldiers have been injuries in the clashes that lasted for several hours till midnight, while a few soldiers are.
still reported to be missing.
Some Indian soldiers were apparently taken as a prisoner of war by the PLA, who were present in far greater numbers and armed with stones
and iron rods during the prolonged dispute, but later freed after top level military talks.
The situation is very fluid on the ground at present but, luckily, no firing has been taken place till now.
On Tuesday, China blamed India for provoking the clash, a charge India has rejected, saying clearly that violence occurred as Chinese refused to
honour de-escalation plan.
The PLA (People’s Liberation Army) soldiers suddenly attacked the contingent of Indian troops led by Colonel B Santosh Babu after they were challenged for flouting the phased disengagement agreement thrashed out by the rival Commanders on the ground.
The Indian army is firmly committed to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Nation.
The PLA upped the ante on Tuesday Morning by accusing “aggressive” Indian troops of violating its” Border Lines” and claiming the “sovereignty” of the Galwan Valley region, which is India’s territory and largely settled for the last several years.
While Indian officials rubbished the “All the False Claims”, Leh-based Infantry Division commander major Abhijit Bapat on Tuesday morning also held some talks with PLA counterpart to cool the situation between the troops.
There were almost 35 casualties on the Chinese side. This could be with more combined with injuries and killed in the fight.
