India is a very diverse nation and sometimes some of its people choose to mislead others over a particular topic. As there are a lot of people (Ramdev) who believe in someone’s sayings even before having any question makes it very easy for those people to mislead you. Also because of poverty and illiteracy, some people take this as an advantage for their own good.

Recently on Sunday, our Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan deprecated the endorser and the face of a large brand Patanjali. Ramdev’s comments in the previous week were seen as mocking the medical science and how it is working and helping us in the pandemic.

On Saturday, The Indian Medical Association (IMA) advised the Health Minister to take some steps against Mr. Ramdev for misleading the society through his statements. In its statement, the IMA said that Mr. Ramdev should be prosecuted under the Epidemic Diseases Act as untutored statements are a threat to the literate society of the country as well as to the poor people falling prey to Mr. Ramdev said in a video “allopathy is a stupid and bankrupt science”. He also said, “lakhs of people have died after taking allopathic medicines.”

IMA also stated that Mr. Ramdev told that drugs like Remdesivir are failing in the treatment of COVID-19 which according to the association isn’t the right thing to say. In reply to these allegations Patanjali Trust said that Mr. Ramdev was just reading a whatsApp forwarded message. Though after this controversy this seems to be unacceptable reason, the Patanjali Trust said that Mr. Ramdev have much respects for all the doctors.

Mr. Vardhan in his letter written in Hindi is found saying that he hoped Mr. Ramdev might apologize to the doctors but his comments and explanations were not satisfactory. He said that doctors are continuously working since the pandemic struck and these kinds of statements from a socially popular figure aren’t just hurting doctors but the country as a whole.

“Ramdev deserves to be prosecuted for causing danger to the lives of many by making them believe not to take the advice of allopathy doctors. If Health Minister Harsh Vardhan is not taking any action, we will be forced to resort to democratic means of struggle to propagate the truth to the common man and knock on the doors of the judiciary to get justice. ” Said the IMA.
