We all know about Elon Musk and how he surprises us every time with something new. For now the news is out regarding Musk’s satellite network, ‘Starlink‘ is working to beam broadband internet all over the world by August this year, the only exception being the polar regions.

Elon Musk’s space research company, SpaceX, has also launched over one thousand and five hundred satellites continuing the starlink operations around 10 to 12 countries or maybe even more. The same was assured by Elon Musk at the Mobile World Congress Conference on Tuesday earlier this week. “That’s costing a lot. SpaceX’s total investment in the network will be $5 billion and $10 billion before cash flow is positive.” Said Elon Musk.

“Some $20 billion or $30 billion may be needed in the longer term to maintain Starlink’s competitive position. The service, which has over 69,000 active users, may reach half a million in the next 12 months.” Musk added.

As we know about the sarcasm of Elon Musk, he further added a little humour in his statement and said “Our goal is not to go bankrupt.” He then said, “Step No. 1 for Starlink is don’t go bankrupt. If we succeed in not going bankrupt, then that’ll be great and we can move on from there.”

The target of SpaceX is to offer broadband for up to 5% of the population of the world where there cannot reach the conventional fiber and wireless networks. Musk admitted that he signed two deals with telecom operators of whom he could not let the name come out for now.

Starlink will offer data back haul spines for their networks. The starlink satellite network currently transfers data about thirty terabits of data per second and Musk also announced that he is focusing at network response time of less than twenty milliseconds.

Elon Musk and SpaceX are ready to launch a new version of satellites of Starlink in the coming year which will include inter-satellite laser links which will make them cover the polar region. The team is working on developing new ground terminals to stem losses.

“The dishes customers are currently installing on rooftops cost more than $1,000 to make but only retail for half that.” Musk said. Musk also said that, “SpaceX is also planning an orbital flight of its giant starship in the next few months.”

SpaceX and Starlink with their leader Elon Musk has continuously worked for the betterment of humanity for a while now and the world is having a close look for their new goal.
