We see shortage of vaccines in every state of the country. Taking advantage of the shortage, many star hotels are offering several offers to pull the public towards their business. Here are the details.

Star hotels are using vaccination for their commercial purpose. Central has found out many private hospitals are giving the vaccines to the hotels which they are offering to their customers as a vaccination package. Witnessing this, the central government has issued a letter to the state and UT’s government to take legal action against such hotels and hospitals.

The Union Health Ministry Additional Secretary Dr Manohar Agnani stated in the letter that: It has come to the notice of the Union Health Ministry that some private hospitals are giving packages for COVID vaccination in collaboration with some hotels. This is against the Guidelines issued for the country’s COVID-19 vaccination programme. Vaccinations carried out in star hotels is in contrary to the guidelines and have to stop immediately.

Many Luxury hotels are offering the vaccination package in a flier by stating ‘Get Vaccinated here – it’s our pleasure to serve you vaccination package’ which includes comfortable stay, vaccination by experts from a renowned hospital, a healthy breakfast & dinner, clinical consultation on request and basic amenities like Wi-Fi are available at the package of INR 2999. All of this had attracted a strong criticism from social media users.

On Sunday, the Mumbai police at an inspection at a hotel in Andheri found piles of COVID-19 vaccines stored in a normal fridge, violating the rules of the government. According to the guidelines, the vaccine can be administered at “government and private COVID vaccination centres, workplaces, near to home covid vaccination centre for elderly and differently abled persons to be organised at group housing societies, RWA offices, community centres, Panchayat Bhavans, school and colleges, old age homes etc temporarily.”

The letter states that apart from above one mentions, no other venues may carry out the national COVID vaccination program and further states, “Therefore vaccination carried out in star hotels is contrary to guidelines and must be stopped immediately. They should start necessary legal and administrative actions against such institutions.”
