For the last few days, well-known television actor Pearl V Puri has been all over the news not for his acting but for allegedly molesting a five-year-old girl back in the year 2019 on the sets of Bepanah Pyaar.
Pearl was arrested on June 4th, last Friday by the Vasai area Police in Mumbai. Within just three days of his arrest, the case has taken several turns with everyone weaving a story of their own.
Digging into the story, Pearl V puri was called to the police station on Friday evening for inquiry, and a few hours after that, he was taken into custody by the police and the news broke out to the public and media on the 5th of June. He was then sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Pearl is a famous actor in the Indian Hindi television industry, he starred in top-rated Daily Serials like Naagin 3 and Bepanah Pyaar. Back in October 2019, a 5-year-old girl’s father had accused that his daughter was molested on the sets of Bepanah Pyaar and filed an FIR stating the same with no names of the accused mentioned.
This almost two-year-old case was reopened as the victim. Now a seven-year-old girl has identified the man who sexually abused her as Pearl V Puri. After her revelation, her father immediately took her to the police station, and Pearl was called in and later arrested.
Well, the accused was identified by the victim, and he was arrested. Everything is done? No, not just yet. There’s always another side to the story and we haven’t seen or heard the story of Pearl V Puri. Jumping to the conclusion that every man who is accused is to be a monster behind a gentleman’s face is completely wrong.
Parent’s story:
The victim, a five-year-old, is the daughter of actor Ekta Sharma who worked in the same serial Bepanah Pyaar and that is how the little girl came to the sets with her mother. The girl’s parents Anil Donde and Ekta Sharma got divorced three years ago and from then, the custody battle of that little girl was going on.
After the alleged incident happened, Anil mentioned to the police that being an actor her wife cannot take care of her daughter which led to the happening of such incident. After his claim, his daughter has been staying with him ever since then and Ekta Sharma, the mother, didn’t even meet her in the last two years.
Ekta kapoor:
Producer Ekta Kapoor, who launched Pearl V Puri in 2013, claimed that he is a gentleman and these allegations cannot be true. Supporting her statement, she penned down a long note on her Instagram stating that the mother of the victim, accepted that Pearl is an innocent man and all this is being done by her husband, Anil Donde for the full custody of their girl and Pearl is bait in this. She further said that her husband Anil brainwashed her kid into telling all these stories.
Mother’s side of the story:
Ekta Sharma has been living with her mother in Mumbai after her separation between husband. In her audio call with Ms. Ekta Kapoor, Ekta Sharma stated her husband is psychotic and wishes to take her child away from her. She further added that “When my husband told me about the molestation two years ago, my daughter was a happy girl who came to the set with me and played on the sets.
Even on the same day of my husband’s accusation at this incident, we went to my co-actor Mehak’s house and she was extremely happy and normal. If something of that sort happened, she would have been devastated, but she should never be the carefree little girl I witnessed.She further added that her maid, who accompanied them to the sets, also said that this could have never happened as the kid’s nanny even for a minute didn’t let her go off her site even when she was playing.
The child’s mother clearly accepted everything on the call with Ekta Kapoor and she even gave her statements to the state police investigating the matter, but she remains completely silent to the media. Even the maid was also made to give her statement, which she did.
After a lot of backlash from the media, Ekta Sharma, mother of the victim, took to Instagram where he said, “I have utmost faith in the judiciary that the truth will prevail, hence I would like to remain silent until then. I have submitted all the proofs to the police and I request everyone to respect mine and my daughter’s privacy.”
Support from the Industry:
The Indian film industry makes comments after a clear examination of any issues as their statements always blow out of proportion. But, when the news of Pearl’s arrest came out, several top actors from the TV industry did not hesitate a minute and came to support Pearl V Puri. The list is endless with support from his co-stars Anita Hassanandani, Karishma Tanna, Divya Khosla Kumar, and many more. All their statements only conclude that “Pearl is a man of values and he cannot be the monster he is accused of.”
What’s the truth?
With every side of the story mentioned above, what’s the truth? Who’s playing the sympathy card and who’s being the victim? What is yet to be unfolded to draw a conclusion?
Keep aside these, what’s taken a huge toll on this incident is the life of an innocent little girl that will never be the same. What’s yet to know is that is all of this because of a psychotic father or a man like Pearl who seems to be a gentleman but not one?
After the incident broke, the internet has been full of judges giving their own verdicts. Pearl V Puri is being slammed by netizens every second and there are people who believe he is innocent and are instead seen shaming Ekta Sharma or her husband for letting their own fight come here.
The truth hasn’t come out yet! If Pearl is the real culprit, we wish he gets the sentence he deserves but if he’s innocent; he needs to be accepted by society too.
But until then, Pearl V Puri is innocent until proven guilty. Let us all step aside giving the judiciary a chance of fair trial for everyone as truth shall prevail, always!
