The fuel efficiency ratings have taken slight hit when being compared to BS4 engines, mileage is still an important aspect while considering buying a car, and hence many car manufacturing firms are working to improve it.
Here is the list of the most economical BS6 compliant cars available in India right now.
1. Hyundai Aura Diesel with 25.40 kmpl
Hyundai’s Aura diesel drivetrain makes it the best fuel-efficient car available in the country. Aura diesel is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder CRDi engine that produce 75 PS of max power and 190 Nm of peak torque. With an AMT (Automatic Transmission) gearbox, the Powertrain returns mileage of 25.40 kmpl, while the diesel 5 speed MT (Manual Transmission) configuration has also impressive mileage 25.35 km per litre.
Hyundai Aura diesel price starts at Rs. 7.74 lakh which goes up to Rs. 9.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
2. Tata Altroz Diesel with 25.11 kmpl
Tata had entered the premium hatchback segment with Altroz, which hasn’t failed to impress us with the feature department, price, powertrain and even the mileage. It is the most economical hatchback in India.
Tata Altroz is powered by 1.5-litre 4-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine that produces 90 PS max power and 200 Nm torque, it just features only a 5-speed MT. This particular powertrain has an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency rating of 25.11 kmpl.
Altroz is priced between Rs. 6.99 lakh and Rs. 9.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and this hatchback puts against Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, and Hyundai i20.
3. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Diesel with 25.1 kmpl
Hyundai Aura’s hatchback twin, the Grand i10 Nios gets the same 1.2-litre CRDi diesel engine as the former and also has an impressive fuel efficiency. The Grand i10 Nios diesel returns a mileage of 25.1 kmpl with a 5-speed MT.
The diesel AMT’s figure is yet to be ascertained. The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios diesel price ranges between Rs. 6.75-8.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
4. Honda Amaze Diesel with 24.7 kmpl
Honda amaze is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine, which comes with a 5-speed MT, along with an optional CVT automatic transmission. This engine generates 100 PS max power and 200 Nm torque, and it’s rated to return 24.7 kmpl of mileage.
Where diesel-CVT variants generate 80 PS power and 160 Nm torque and has an ARAI claimed mileage of 21 kmpl.
Honda Amaze diesel price starts at Rs. 7.43 lakh, which goes up to Rs. 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
5. Ford Aspire/Figo Diesel with 24.4 kmpl
Ford powers Aspire sedan and its Figo hatchback with a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine. The diesel engine puts out 100 PS of max power and 215 Nm of peak torque and comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
Even with the 15 kg difference in the weight, both the cars have an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency rating of 24.4 kmpl. The Aspire diesel is priced between Rs. 7.49 lakh and 8.34 lakh, while the Figo diesel retails at a starting price of Rs. 6.86 lakh, going up to Rs. 7.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
