What is the importance of breakfast in the lives of adults?

A recent study by the Ohio State University on 30,000 plus American adults shows the importance of breakfast in the lives of adults. Breakfast gives a perfect kick start to a healthy day.

It revealed that breakfast contains vital contents like calcium in milk, Vitamin C in fruits and fiber and other minerals in cereals, as compared to other meals you consume the rest of the day. When you miss out on these nutrients, it is more likely for you to face a lack of concentration, weight gain and cardiovascular sickness.

Christopher Taylor, professor of medical dietetics in the College of Medicine at OSU said that there is an off chance that we do not eat the foods that are devoured at breakfast, so we have an inclination not to eat them during the other meals of the day. So those normal breakfast supplements become a dietary hole that needs to be filled.

Breakfast is the most significant meal of the day. It boosts your metabolism and fuels your body with the nutrients for the day. We have seen many adults who avoid their morning meal in a hurry on their way to work. Those who skip breakfast consume larger meals throughout the day and snack more often. “Snacking is basically contributing a meal’s worth of calorie intakes for people who skipped breakfast,” Taylor said.

This leads them to make unfit choices for the duration of the day, such as consuming unnecessary calories, sugar content and saturated fat, said Stephanie Fanelli, MS, RDN, LD, first author of the study and a doctoral student in the College of Medicine at OSU.

The research about the importance of breakfast also revealed that adults who have breakfast are less prone to chronic diseases and digestive issues. They consume all the important nutrients needed in the first meal whose intake cannot be done in lunch and dinner.

Therefore, we highly recommend our readers to know more about quick and healthy breakfast recipes which contain high fiber and protein to start the day on the right foot. It can prevent several unwanted issues and ensure you have a balanced diet.
