Brutality behind deaths is happening more often these days. But this incident in Thuttukudi district, Tamilnadu is extremely painful and leaves everyone in anger about the Sathankulam town Police behavior towards the death of father and son named Jeyaraj (59) and Fenix Emmanuel (31).
Cause of the deaths
On June 19th, policemen have arrested Jeyaraj for Violating the terms of Lockdown keeping their shop open for extra minutes.
A few moments later his son Fenix has gone to the police station and seen his father who got severely injured by police and raised his voice for the reason. Police have filed a case against them stating that they have raised their voices and abused using bad words.
The next day June 20th, Relatives and family of them have seen the duo bleeding the blood continuously when they have taken to hospital for a medical certificate. Nearly six to seven lungis are changed. As per reports, Fenix’s friend who was present in the police station has said that they have listened three hours of continuous screams and cries. This continues for the next days and on 22nd Fenix died in the hospital and his father fell ill in the morning and died on June 23.
Police Reaction on the Father and Son Death
Police simply stated that they are suffering from fever and some health issues lead to their death. But, the fact is they behaved very cruelly to them. Shops on Wednesday remained closed and people in the town of Sathankulam have protested against the justice towards the deaths. Over 150 people are participated and raised their voices against the police.
Family and Relatives anger on this Issue
The family has demanded murder cases should be charged against the policemen. Relatives have said they will not accept the bodies until their demand gets noticed.
Till now, the postmortem report has not submitted to the court. Four policemen got suspended and One guy got transferred. Is this the solution for taking lives?
