All of the followers of one of the finest minds of the century were taken aback when Bill Gates announced his divorce with Melinda Gates on social media.
Both of them were married in 1994 and since then they’ve been seen together a lot of times in their social appearances. However, after 27 years of marriage, they’ve decided to part their ways.
“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship we have made the decision to end our marriage.” Both of them addressed to their followers on social media.
It’s tough to accept the news not just because it’s a high profile divorce case but as whenever the society has seen them, they looked a perfect example of how a couple should be. At the time of their 25th anniversary, Bill Gates tweeted, “Can’t wait to spend 25 more years laughing with you.”
Also such statements are getting ahead on social media, “If Bill and Melinda Gates can’t make a marriage work, what hope is there for the rest of us?”
In the divorce after nearly three decades of being married the lawyers on both the sides are the same as were in the Jeff Bezos’s divorce with MacKenzie Scott.
Ted Billbe, lawyer for Bill Gates in this case, represented Scott in her divorce from Bezos. Sherri Anderson who’s representing Melinda Gates, represented Bezos in his divorce. Not only the lawyers are same but the settlement amount would also go big.
But it’s not just about the money at stake. When all the people heard this news, one question was first and fixed to arise, “What about the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation?”
It is a nonprofit association fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. For over 20 years now, it has been dealing with some of the biggest problems the world has faced and is dealing with.
According to some sources the association has donated a hefty $50 Billion in charity for various causes over the years.
“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together.” They said further in the same tweet.
Although the comments on the post were turned off by the official handle of Bill Gates on twitter a lot of people quoted the tweet and shared their views and wishes.
