Cabinet Approves 5G Spectrum Auction

Jio has already brought 4G to India. Though the youth started using Smart phones, Farmers in villages are still using 2G phones .

5G is coming before the people have even switched to 4G. Recently, the Union Cabinet has prepared the sector for the 5G auction.

To this end, the Cabinet has taken a key decision on the 5G spectrum auction. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar clarified on Thursday that the Union Cabinet had approved the 5G auction.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that the 4G spectrum of various frequency brands will be auctioned in March with a validity period of 20 years.

It is expected to generate a revenue of Rs 392332.70 crores, said Ravi Shankar Prasad.

It has been 4 years since the last 4G spectrum auction, the Union Minister said. He said the conditions for the auction in 2016 will be the same now.

Ravi Shankar Prasad said they would invite applications from those who want to buy 5G spectrum within this month and proposed to complete the auction process by March 2021.
