Spy images leaked online last month confirmed that the upcoming Model of Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 X will replaced by the Meteor 350. An image appeared in online configuration tool revealed its pricing. The launch of the motorcycle isn’t too far away, so here are the list of everything you want to know about the all-new Meteor 350.
Meteor 350 Revised styling
Styling changes includes a new rear end design, along with side panels and restyled fuel tank. The rear fender appears shorter than one on the previous generation Thunderbird X. The brake lamp/indicator unit placed lower with a unique look and the fuel tank looks same as the 20 litre unit seen on current models, but seems like fuel cap is no longer offset and sits in the centre.
The new Meteor 350 also appears to get a fresh alloy wheel design with Y-shaped alloy spokes instead of straight spokes like in the current model.
An Updated Frame
The upcoming Meteor will use a new double cradle chassis. It has less or more cruiser-style riding position because the foot pegs appeared to position about two to three inches further ahead than the current model. From the earlier spy images, Meteor 350 run its braking system hardware on the right side, whereas the current models has its brake calipers and discs on the left side. The chain and sprockets have also switched the sides and are now on the left.
A New Engine
One of most noticeable changes to the engine is missing the kick-start rod. The gearbox housing is more compact compared to the current model is because of the removal of all the hardware required for the kick-starter, along with the better internal casing. Another change, slightly higher up the panel covers that hide the throttle body. This looks similar to the one on the company’s 650 model, though in a unique colour.
These panels could also cover the more comprehensive electronics package that the bike in order is expected to meet BS6 Regulations. The new Meteor 350 also appears, running a more compact exhaust pipe which ends before the rear tyre. This is unlike the previous generation models.
Features and Customizability
New Meteor 350 comes with a new circular instrument console with a larger digital display and offset unit on the left housing a small digital display. What the smaller circular unit on the right side has to offer is currently not clear; there is a probability of being an USB charger. We expect the new display unit provides a lot more information than the one on the current Thunderbird X. We could able to see functions like real-time fuel efficiency, range and more.
The recently leaked images also reveal that the upcoming Meteor feature several optional accessories much like the company’s 650cc and classic range models. These includes aftermarket windscreens, seats, panniers and foot pegs.
Meteor 350 Pricing
A leaked image from the Royal Enfields official website configuration tool revealed the interesting price of Rs. 1,68,550/- and it appears to be inclusive of some other accessories. This will be most certainly an ex-showroom price and still it is competitive.
