The fear of Corona third wave is almost lost in the minds of the people of India. As various states have eased the rules of lockdown, people started wandering without proper precautions. The cases have just decreased but not completely gone.
As of today vaccination has not even reached half the population too. It is estimated that out of 121 crores of Indian population only 36.35 percent of population are vaccinated with at least one dose as of July 27. Experts are urging people to stay home and not leave until it’s mandatory. The third wave of corona is said to be more dangerous than the first two. The symptoms of the third wave are not officially known but you may feel fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties, which are like the first two.
Statistical Data :
The graph of covid-19 cases in India is in a declining phase but can expect a surge. As the daily cases count has dropped from 4.14 lakh to 2.6 lakh in the last two weeks, active cases have come down from 37.45 lakh to 32.25 lakh. The upcoming events and festivals like Independence day, Ganesh chaturti, Dusshera, Bonalu (Telangana), etc, might be the foundation stone for the third wave. The Union Government should command the states to severe the rules and bring the situation under control.
A False Misconception:
There is a common misconception that every fresh wave would be weaker than the previous one, but it might not be in the case of India. Apparently the second wave has affected far more people than in the first wave. The positivity rate is four times more than the first wave in the second wave.
The unconfirmed infections which are never tested are also expected to be large in the third wave. The third wave may not change the demography of India entirely because of vaccination drives which induced immunity in a large proportion of the population of India. However, these calculations can be altered by gene mutations in the virus.
The virus can mutate in ways that make it escape the immune responses developed in the already infected people,or those vaccinated. Recently during the festival of Bonalu in the state of Telangana many individuals have not followed the Covid protocols put forth by the state government. Experts argue that the third wave may hit India by this month. Apart from formulating and implementing the rules, the government should also look into the matters of administration and make sure that every citizen is following them. The crisis has revealed the efficiency of every government in the matters of administration.
