Air conditioner work by pulling warm, humid indoor air to over a coil of cold tubing. This coil is cold because they fill it with cold refrigerant.
The moisture vapour suspended in the air condenses on the cold coil and the result is liquified water which is Condensate and it drops off the coil to the pan below it and out of the nozzle.
All the air conditioners work like these regardless of central air conditioning or window unit – Even your freezer, Refrigerator, or a dehumidifier works like this.
Now, we know why water comes out of the Air conditioner.
Is it safe for drinking?
No, this water is not safe for drinking as we do not filter the water and it is dangerous to drink unfiltered water and we don’t know how many bacteria are present in the water.
But, We can use this water for all the other alternative household purposes like battery water, cleaning our houses, washing our clothes, watering plants, Flushing down the toilet, etc and this water is almost equal to distilled water.
Irrigation-The water from the air conditioner can water your plants, both indoor and outdoor. The condensate comes out from the air outside, and it is safe for plants.
Decoration – we can use this water in fountains small, big, etc. You can also build a backyard Waterland or a fishpond. You can the a.c water for your irrigation of them.
Cleaning-You can also use the water for cleaning your houses indoor or outdoor. Just add bleach or soap and you are ready.
Car cleaning-You can use the water for cleaning your car, bikes, etc.
Indirectly, these compact things will also save you some money. You can see a slight change in water bills.
So, friends start using this water from a.c and save a bucket of water every day.
A quick calculation of how much water can we save in one year?
Let’s assume that we get 20 liters per day.
One bucket of water per day is equal to 20 liters.
20 liter’s * 365 days.
In one year that’s freaking 7,300 liters of water per Air conditioner in one year.
If you use an Air conditioner for five years i.e. 36,500 liters of water.
That’s a lot of water and we can do our bit by just keeping a bucket under the nozzle where the Air-conditioned water comes out and use it for other household purposes.
I’ve already kept a bucket to save water. So, are will you also do the same thing and save water?
